Sen. Joshua Dariye who is the recently released past Governor of Plateau State, has finally reacted to some of the reports that had revealed that he had been planning to run for the Senatorial Seat of Plateau Central while debunking the rumours and describing them as “unfounded and untrue” as he has not bought form or done anything to that effect.

It has also been reported that just some days after his release, some of the reports had been making the rounds that he is planning to actually run for the senatorial seat of Plateau Central under the Labour Party.

Dariye had fully debunked the rumours when Governor Simon Lalong, in the company of his wife (Regina), some National Assembly members, and some of the other members of the State Executive Council had visited him at his residence in Jos.

He advised politicians in the state to unite in promoting the interest of the citizenry.

According to him, “governance is an opportunity for those in charge to do their best and leave posterity to judge their efforts as no one can finish the business of Government in a day.”

Dariye said he was full of appreciation to God for making his release possible and also using people like Governor Lalong and President Muhammadu Buhari to make his release possible. He narrated his ordeal in prison and said it was a difficult moment but God saw him through and made him survive.

In another report, embattled former Governors of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye and Jolly Nyame of Taraba State have all been released from Kuje Prison months after they were pardoned by the National Council of State.

Dariye and Nyame had been granted pardons by the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government on 14th of April, 2022.

Both former governors were serving jail term for corruption allegations until they were granted pardon by President Buhari, a development that received a lot of negative reactions.

Dariye, who governed Plateau between 1999 and 2007 was convicted for criminal breach of trust.
