One of the worst nightmares most creative people dread is the fear of not having their creativity announced to the world. It’s a well-known fact that an unannounced talent is as good as the absence of a talent. It is neither useful to you as the carrier of the talent nor, the society which that talent was supposed to positively impact.
It is worthy of note that talent is nothing until it becomes announced and sellable. This can be related to the proverbial candle that was lit and hidden under a table. The reality of the candle will be that of unachieved dreams because, although it possesses the capacity to light up a room, it will never be able to do that because it is hidden.
You do not want to be like that candle. You do not want to be that creative Nigerian youth that is unannounced. You want your light to glow, shine and spread out which is absolutely what is expected and it can happen, yes, it can but there is only one way for that to happen – be placed on the top and showcased.
Talking about talent and being placed at the top, an opportunity is staring you right now in the face if you are a good writer. If you are a conscious person who understands how to use words to simplify complex societal issues then this is that opportunity you have always hoped for; whether or not you will let it pass you by is totally up to you. The Prof. MarkAnthony Nze literary prize is that opportunity for you.
Prof. MarkAnthony Nze, an academic is not a new name in the world of conscious writing that is why you must understand that when someone who is interested in the development and exposure of the teeming number of creative and talented Nigerian youths, goes beyond the norm to institute a chance for amazing writers to showcase their talent and creativity, it presents the best possible platform for announcing you and creating a platform for you to shine from. As a young writer, apparently, you are more used to thinking that the dreams and ambitions you have towards exploring your creativity can be seen as building castles in the skies because all you see are the seemingly insurmountable hurdles to climb, almost impossible heights to attain, and nearly unachievable dreams, this is time to get up and showcase yourself.
Prof. MarkAnthony Nze is known for his interest in conscious writing and creativity. All his life, he has continued to undertake noble activities that are all geared towards affecting humanity positively. Instituting this prize was done out of the pure desire to see things work in Nigeria where he hails from. He has always been consistent with his stance that political restructuring and reforms are the only way out for Africa’s most populous country and that is exactly why he wants young people to start thinking, researching, and writing about it to raise their consciousness while hoping that it can spark an ideological shift from what is presently obtainable.
The topic for the literary prize is; ‘RESTRUCTURING: The Best Way Forward For Nigeria’. Interested participants are expected to write extensively about this topic and express in practical terms their views about it. The word count is pegged at 2,500 words of purely original work. It will interest you to note that any sort of plagiarism means automatic disqualification.
