Popular comedian, Francis Agoda, aka I go Dye, has revealed why he is not ready to stake his integrity by campaigning for any politician ahead of the 2023 general elections.

In an interview with Sunday Scoop which was monitored by Africa Daily News, New York on Sunday, he said, ‘I will not stake my integrity for any politician, even if I am offered N1bn, because some of them often abuse the trust given to them. What comfort have they given to the electorate? The major sacrifices made for them (by Nigerians) have not made life more meaningful for the people.

‘There is no need for me to campaign for any of them because in the long run, the hardship meted on us will still be there. Whenever I see any politician that don’t live above their means and sustain the integrity test, I will campaign to them for free.”

On the readiness of the youth to take over the leadership reins of the country, the comedian said, ‘The youth make up the larger part of the voting population and they have always played a role in the emergence of any candidate.

‘The youth are beginning to see the possibilities of determining how they want their future to be.’

While speaking on how he has been able to be consistent over the years, he said, ‘It has been by the grace of God, who gives life, wisdom and understanding to all men. However, when anyone identifies their natural abilities, and are disciplined enough to do what is right, irrespective of personal gains, it becomes very easy for them to sustain a level of growth.’

Meanwhile, veteran actor, Chiwetalu Agu, had recently revealed that money plays a big role in the endorsement of politicians vying for elective offices by Nigerian celebrities.

The actor expressed displeasure over what he described as the lack of integrity and morality by some entertainers whom he said allow money to sway their opinions.
