The governor who had been reacting to the victory of Senator Ademola Adeleke in Saturday’s election in Osun State had also advised his colleagues to remember that it is the people that always have the power.

Governor Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had been announced winner of the governorship election. Makinde who was the only PDP governor in the South West region while reacting had reiterated that what happened on Saturday was similar to what happened in Oyo State in 2019.

Makinde used the opportunity to congratulate the governor-elect and also hailed the voters across the 30 local governments of Osun State for standing by PDP.

Makinde in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Taiwo Adisa added that he was happy that the PDP flag would be raised in another state in the region.

He said, “It is great to have a second PDP flag flying in the South-West and this victory teaches all politicians an important lesson- that truly, power resides with the people.

“The power of the people will continue to triumph, the earlier politicians realise this fact, the better for our democracy.”

In another report, the Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has stated that he is still studying the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election which he lost to Senator Ademola Adeleke before making his position known.

Mr Oyetola said this in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan, on Sunday in Osogbo.

Oyetola also announced that he will give a robust response after his ongoing consultations.

He asserted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had taken cognisance of the results of the governorship election as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday.

The governor, however, disclosed that the party would be responding appropriately after studying the results and consulting with critical stakeholders of the party.
