Senator Ademola Adeleke who is the Osun State Governor-elect, has finally broken his silence as he openly cautioned his supporters and well-wishers against engaging in violence and other electoral acts of malpractice.

The former lawmaker had also warned that those who had been celebrating his victory should observe decorum or risk being disowned as members of his political family.

Recall that Adeleke was on Sunday declared winner of the just concluded Osun State governorship election.

There has been jubilation amongst his supporters and well-wishers across the country. However it had been reported that some of the jubilants are said to have been engaging in violence against members of the defeated party.

Reacting, Adeleke in a statement by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, condemned the reported violent conduct of some youth celebrating his emergence as Governor-elect in the state, dissociating himself and his political organisation from such negative activities.

“It has come to the attention of the Governor-Elect that some youth are engaging in violent celebrations, leading to isolated attacks on vehicles and even individuals. This is unacceptable conduct and those involved in such behaviour are warned to stop forthwith.

“While commiserating with any victim of such incident, the Adeleke Campaign Organisation Is hereby informing the general public that it did not authorise any such demonstration and those involved are definitely not part of the Adeleke Campaign Organisation,” he said.

In another report, the Stakeholders of the Patriotic Youth Alliance G40 has openly lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for ensuring an electoral process that assures transparency, competence and unbiasedness with the just concluded gubernatorial election of Osun State.

The leadership of the group had also praised the security agencies for doing a wonderful job of ensuring eligible voters cast their votes in a free and conducive environment. The group said such action has reignited the lost confidence of the Osun people and Nigerians to actively participate in the coming 2023 general elections in the country.

Isah Abubakar, the National Coordinator of the group in a statement on Sunday in Kaduna said, “We wish to commend INEC for ensuring an electoral process that assured transparency, competence and unbiasedness in the elections of Osun State. The same commendation extends to the security agencies, these acts have rebirth the lost confidence of the Osun people and Nigerians to actively participate in the 2023 general elections.”
