Gunmen Kill Security Man, Raze Down Filling Station In Ondo

There was mild pandemonium yesterday in Igoba community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State following the killing of a security guard whose name was given as ‘Mr Sunday’ by gunmen.

The yet-to-be-identified attackers who also set the station ablaze shot and killed the security guard who was manning the Titolu Venture filling station in the community.

The manager of the station, Ajisafe Oluwatobiloba, revealed that while attempting to determine what started the fire, they came upon the body of the security guard.

‘I was called by one of the residents, and when we arrived, we noticed the station blazing.

“We called the fire department, and they came to put out the fire without realizing the culprits had slain our security guard,‘ he claimed.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, PPRO, SP Funmi Odunlami who confirmed the incident said investigations had begun to unravel the circumstances behind the incident.

Meanwhile, there was pandemonium in some parts of Edo State as some unknown gunmen yesterday morning invaded Ikabigbo community which is situated in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, where they had reportedly abducted a Catholic priest, who was simply identified as Reverend Father Osia.

Africa Daily News, New York also gathered that the hoodlums who had invaded the residence of the priest when he was preparing for Sunday mass had assaulted and also whisked him away.

A source in the community who wished not to be named, told Newsmen that the community vigilante group have commenced bush-combing with a view to rescuing the priest. It was also gathered that the gunmen shot one of the community boys who was searching for the reverend father, and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
