As the race for the 2023 general elections grows hotter, the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) in Borno State has made claims that over two million fresh individuals in the state, have registered as members of the party.

The Borno State chairman, Mr Mohammed Mustafa had made the claim in Maiduguri on Sunday

Borno’s population, according to the last census estimates is about 5.86 million.

According to Mustafa the party is very popular in Borno and is now set to upset other political parties in the 2023 general elections in the state.

“We have fielded candidates in all elective positions in Borno and have structures right from the wards to the state level, mobilising the electorate.

“Apart from our presidential candidate who is Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, we have a governorship candidate, three senatorial candidates, 10 House of Representatives candidates and 28 House of Assembly candidates to vote for massively in Borno.

“We are set to surprise others with our strength of over two million members and supporters.

“We are looking towards 2023 elections with full confidence and hope to win by the grace of God,” Mustafa said.

He commended INEC for extending the ongoing Permanent Voters Card (PVC) registration and urged the people of Borno, particularly youths, to participate in the exercise.

“It’s a tedious thing but I want to urge eligible voters that are now more enlightened to take the pain to go and register so that they can actively participate in electing leaders of their choice,” Mustafa said.

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso who is the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has also come out to debunk and dismiss all the insinuations that he may be going into alliance with the main opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2023 election.

The former Kano state governor had spoken while he was on a visit to Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital at the weekend, he also reiterated his earlier resolve that he would never return to the main opposition party because it has no clear-cut agenda for the nation.

“Don’t forget we have candidates across board now in NNPP ahead of the 2023 elections, so you will expect me to leave and join others in the PDP?

“It is not going to happen. I was a foundation member of the two major parties and they have nothing to offer again, that is why I left them and I can’t go back,” he said.
