Ex-Militant Leader, Tompolo Debunks Death Rumours

High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo a.k.a Tompolo who is a former Niger Delta militant leader has debunked rumours surrounding his death while claiming that he is actually hale and hearty.

Tompolo was reacting to reports that he was shot dead in Bayelsa State during the House of Representatives primary election.

The High Priest of Egbesu Deity said, contrary to reports, he is doing well.

Tompolo’s denial was contained in a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Paul Bebenimibo.

Describing the reports as malicious, the former militant leader urged Nigerians to disregard such.

The statement reads: “The attention of High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, has been drawn to an online report that one Tompolo was killed in Ogbia during the Peoples Democratic Party primaries for House of Reps and Senate.

“For the avoidance of doubt, this story has nothing to do with High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo. He is hale, hearty, and doing well by God’s grace.

“The general public should know that High Chief Government Ekpemupolo is a leader of the masses and will continue to speak for the masses.

“He urges the general public to disregard the malicious online report of his death.”

 

In another report,Michael Isaiah alias Tompolo who has been identified as a supporter of the PDP  was shot dead in constituency 1 of Ogbia Local Government during the conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State House of Assembly primaries in the 24 constituencies of the State.

The incident, which occured at about 4pm, was instigated during an argument over the authenticity of the delegate list to be used for voting between Hon Richard Ibegu and Jonathan Azibalamawal.

The constituency 1 seat ,which was previously ocupied by Hon. Mieteme Obodo and now the Federal House of Representatives aspirant for primaries slated for tomorrow.

A former Commissioner of Information and strategy and leading aspirant for the Ogbia Federal Constituency ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Daniel Iworiso-Markson, condemned killing of the young man.

Iworiso-Markson in a statement released in Yenagoa, said the killing of Isaiah was barbaric and sad, stating that nobody’s life is worth taken for any political office.​

He called on security agents to go after the killers and their desperate sponsors, insisting that those responsible must not go unpunished.​

The former Commissioner for Information while expressing deep sadness over the incident, commiserated with the family of the deceased and assured them that justice will be served in the matter.
