2023 Shock As Tinubu’s Campaign DG, Jibrin Dumps APC

The Director General of the Bola Tinubu Campaign Organisation, Abdulmumin Jibrin, shcoked Nigerians on Saturday evening when he announced that he has decided to dump the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), while promising to announce his new party in the coming days.

In a tweet on Saturday evening which was sighted by Africa Daily News, New York, Jibrin, who is expected to be actively involved in the coming APC presidential primary election on behalf of Tinubu, revealed that he was moving on from the party.

In the meantime, with this latest development, some Nigerians on social media are wondering what will become of his position in Tinubu’s camp while others wonder if the national leader of the APC may also dump the party.

Jibrin disclosed that he would return with full details of his reasons to dump the ruling party, but there is the feeling that the former lawmaker has envisaged a ‘not-too-good’ future for Tinubu.

‘I have done my best for APC. It’s time to move on. I will announce my new political party within the next 24 hours Insha Allah.

‘I will make a formal statement in due course. Hon Abdulmumin Jibrin,’ Jibrin tweeted, promising to provide more details later.

In a related development, South West presidential aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC), governors and some party leaders yesterday held a meeting at the Lagos House in Marina.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that the meeting was convened by Chief Bisi Akande, a former APC National Chairman and former governor of Osun and Chief Olusegun Osoba, a former Ogun governor.

Those present at the meeting included Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Sen. Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila.

The governors of Lagos, Osun, Ogun and Ekiti, Messrs Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Gboyega Oyetola, Dapo Abiodun and Kayode Fayemi respectively were also present.

Also present at the meeting were the Ministers of Works and Housing, Trade and Industry and Investment, and Interior, Messrs Babatunde Fashola, Adeniyi Adebayo and Rauf Aregbesola respectively and a host of other APC leaders in the zone.
