The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has commended his Kogi State counterpart, Yahaya Bello over what he described as his youth inclusiveness in governance.

Wike who is a presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) pointed out that Bello’s inclusion of youths in governance would enable the younger ones learn governance from a young age to become good future leaders.

He gave the commendation on Wednesday when he paid a courtesy visit to Bello at the Kogi governor’s  residence in Lokoja.

Africa Daily News, New York reports that Wike was in Lokoja as part of his ongoing consultation with delegates of the PDP to solicit their support, ahead of the presidential primary of his party.

Wike, asserted that it was right for him to pay a visit to the governor notwithstanding the party differences, adding that political parties were just vehicles to convey individuals to power and not the destination itself.

The Rivers governor also wished Bello who is also an All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, success in his party’s  forthcoming primaries.

‘Your excellency, let me, first of all, commend you for what you are doing in Kogi. I have seen your Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff and other appointees that I have seen here are so young.

‘Involving youths in governance is not just sending them to the social media for the campaign but engaging them in active governance the way you are doing here so, I commend you for what you are doing,’ Wike said.

In his response, Bello thanked Wike for recognising his administration’s quest and efforts to mentor the younger generation.

Bello also went on to urge the visiting governor to tour the State and witness the developmental strides of his administration in Kogi.

He also appealed to Wike to interact with his party members and residents  to ascertain the state of affairs in Kogi.

‘Politically, prior to my administration, there used to be rancor amongst political parties in Kogi.

‘But in my watch, the APC, PDP and all other political parties are  cohabiting and living in peace with one another,’ Bello said.

Finally, Bello also noted that he was in the presidential race to build on the successes and achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari,  despite the sabotage from within and outside.
