The Governor of Jigawa State, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar on Wednesday joined other interested presidential aspirants to contest for the seat of number one citizen of Nigeria under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that shortly after his declaration, he has also gone on to acquire the nomination form for N100 million.

Speaking during an APC stakeholders meeting held at Government House Dutse on Tuesday evening, Governor Badaru was said to have declared saying; ‘I will join the Presidential race since everyone knows I’m a highly qualified person to do the job’.

The Governor who also told the gathering during the meeting that he was pressurized to contest for the presidential seat by his colleagues has been one of the Governors behind the plot to return former Nigeria’s President, Goodluck Jonathan as President to shortchange the South by four years in a phony power sharing formula.

His media aide, Auwalu Sankara, revealed his principal sought President Muhammadu Buhari’s blessings before buying the form.

Africa Daily News, New York reports that Governor Badaru is now almost the number 12 in the APC seeking to replace Buhari in 2023. He would now join the likes of Bola Tinubu, Rochas Okorocha, Yemi Osinbajo, Chibuike Amaechi, Kayode Fayemi, Chukwemeka Nwajuiba, Yahaya Bello and Chris Ngige among many others who are already in the race.

Africa Daily News, New York also reliably gathered that the decision of the All Progressives Governors Forum to push Governor Badaru to contest for the presidential seat might not be unconnected with the fact that in case southerners pick their candidate from PDP it will pave way for the APC candidate.

Sankara further explained that his boss has the know-how to continue where Buhari stopped.
