Gunmen Abduct Eight Kwara APC Leaders

No fewer than eight members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been abducted between Araromi Opin and Obbo Ile in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara.

Africa Daily News, New York kidnapped while returning from the inauguration of the Kwara chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) State Executive Committee from Ilorin.

One Adekunle Oluwole, a relative of one of the victims, broke the news of their abduction on Thursday in Ilorin.

Oluwole revealed five of the eight people involved had escaped from the kidnappers.

He listed those involved, as the Isapa Ward Chairman in Ekiti local government area of the state, Mr Daniel Adewuyi; the Eruku ward Chairman; Women Leader Eruku; Women Leader Obbo Ile; Chairman Obbo Ile Ward; Women Leader Koro ward; and Women Leader Isapa ward, among others.

He added that the member representing Ekiti Constituency at the state House of Assembly, Mr Ganiyu Abolarin, and the Ekiti local government APC chairman, Mr Wale Awelewa, were at the hospital where some of the victims were rushed after they escaped on Wednesday.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that some of the victims have been discharged from the hospital.

Oluwole also confirmed that four Hilux vehicles fully loaded with members of the Nigerian Army had been deployed to the area to arrest the kidnappers.

In a related development, no fewer 11 persons, mostly elderly women were yesterday abducted by gunmen at Shinfida Village in Jibia Local Government Area of ​​Katsina State.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that they were abducted on their way to join other residents who earlier taken refuge in a refugee camp for safety after their village came under attack by a group of gunmen suspected to be bandits.

Sources told newsmen in an interview on Saturday that the assailants invaded the village last night.
