Today, we shall learn about the guidelines or ways to speak to our own powers that be. You know, we have always known the word praying via religion, but in reality, we never prayed but spoke to our powers. We negotiate, talk and mediate in a way that our hearts does the talking.
Our original way is to first identify our powers by names, OUR CHI, ALUSI and perhaps when we are mighty enough, we posses naturally given powerful trees like ORJI, AKPU, OJUKWU, UDALA,ANYASI,NGWU, AGADI NWANYI,UGIRI, ỌFỌ,EBENEBE and more. NDI ICHIE, AJA-ANI,AGWU,AKWALI,OIVE,AROBUNAGU,OBI NDỊ-ICHIE,AGALIAKWU,IKENGA and more, are paramount. We bring their names forth during our daily communion or discussions and I guess we can say daily prayers in today’s world.
In Gbo/Ancient ways, we had always started by sweeping off our Obi/house. It’s a must. Then, we wash our both hands, mouth, head and feet. We always have nzu/earth chalk, oseoji/alligator pepper, hot drink and kolanut. If you do not have access to pepper of alligator, use those pure native small peppers, they serve just fine. If you do have access to kolanut and hot drink, use only oseoji and nzu. We Ndi Gbo, always ascertain that nzu bu ụzọ /nzu comes first.
LET’S START 👌
1. CLEANSE WITH OSEOJI.
Take 1-4-7 seeds of it, circles it 4 times on your head (anti clockwise/un-tieing way) and touch it on your forehead (uchu isi) on your heart (uchu obi) left inside shoulder (uchu aka ekpe), then right inside shoulder (uchu aka nli), then entire body towards your crouch (uchu ngada), legs and feet and back side of hand and inside palm. Ask uchu to depart your body while doing all the touchings. Then throw it/them away far, from you.
2. NZU AS STARTING POINT.
Raise the nzu to Anyanwụ na Agbala and call on Anyanwụ na Agbala and then touch it on Ani/ground and call onto Aja-ani. Sit well or stand firmly. Call on your Chi by name and greet your Chi. Speak all the great words to your mighty Chi whom have ensured you are alive. Show love. Call on your Ndi Ichie/Ancestors starting from your own father, if he’s dead, grand father, if your own direct father is alive or great-grand-father if both mentioned are still alive. Tell him to come forth with your Ndi Ichie and tua nzu. Use as many Proverbs as you can during the time you speak to your Ndi Ichie. It makes them proud. Call on your mighty Aja-ani to join the union and bless your Aja-ani. Call on the mighty Agwụ of your fathers/umunna and that of your ikwunne/ibe nne maternal. Praise your holy Agwụ and negotiate with your Agwụ for goodness creations. Mmụọ Agwụ, is the father of all creators and powers that be. Call your Arobunagu to partake in the union and ask favours. Negotiate with your Arobunagu like you did with tithes. Call on your own water/river by name and negotiate all the riches you desire.

Call on your Ikenga Igbo ka ọ tua nzu. Call on your own alusi ka ọ tua nzu and negotiate for goodness and protections. Call on the Akwali Ọmụmụ of your people ka ọ tua nzu. Call on ngwu of your fathers ka otua nzu and call on yours if you have it. Call on Orji of your people and yours, if you have it ka ha tua nzu. Call on Ojukwu Ka otua nzu, Udara ka ọ tu kwuo nzu. Call on obi Ndi Ichie Nna Nna gi ha and Ofo Nna Nna gi ha, ka ọ tua nzu. Call on Akpụ of your people and yours, if you posses it ka ọ tua nzu. Call on other Alusi, you are friendly with or knows their good deeds to join you.
AFTERWARDS, USE THE NZU AND DRAW 4 VERTICAL LINES ON ANI/ GROUND AND CIRCLE OR DRAW A HORIZONTAL LINE ACROSS/UNDERNEATH, TO REPRESENT
TOUCH IT, ON MIDDLE OF HEAD (OGONOGO NDU), TOUCH IT ON SIDE OF YOUR EYE (FORESIGHT), ON BIG TOES (IJE TA IHE ỌMA) ON BACK OF HANDS (BLESSINGS).
Raise it to ANYANWỤ na AGBALA and again, touch it on Ezeani/ground. If you had said all during nzu, say that like you had said with nzu, so you are saying with oji. Or call your Chi by name ka ọ taa oji, Ndi Ichie taa oji, Aja-ani taa oji, ka Orji taa oji, Ngwụ taa kwaa ọjị, Ka Udara taa ọjị, Akwari nna nna gi ha, taa ọjị, Ka agadi nwanyi taa oji. Okuku Agwụ gi taa ọjị, Ka Ikenga na Agali akwu taa oji. Extend your words and ask both your alusi and other ones you know Ka ha taa ọjị. At the end, break kolanut and toss inside your omu-oku (plate) and take the one with middle of the oji (Ile/ire oji) and toss to the ground, ask NDI ICHIE & AJA ANI TO TAKE.
DURING THIS, YOU CAN BRING YOUR ISSUES TO TABLE WHILE HOLDING NZU AND BEG ALL TO COME TOGETHER AND SOLVE IT. PLEDGE WHATEVER (FOWL, GOAT, BULL).
They are your own powers. Ensure you do not have uchu/Orakwu following you and cleanse self if you do. Ensure to be barefooted. If Ose oji is totally new, take it behind you while opening it for the first time.

4. MMANYA ỌKỤ.
Do same procedure as above.
NB: Edo has always been attributed to Ndi otu mmiri in odinani. Never what we used daily while praying. NZU & ỌJỊ, covers all in truthfulness. Edo is used when you are constantly committing errors, what you’ll have to use and calm your Ora mmụọ daily. Then hot drink, most Dibịa are forbidden to take alcohol, therefore using it daily while praying, shall create an avenue for many to be tempted into taking it. Therefore, it’s better not to use it, rather than use it and create issues with it.
