Last week’s announcement that popular social critic, literary guru and media executive, Dr MarkAnthony Nze has instituted a very rare opportunity for young people has sent tongues wagging and mouths salivating. Many people from all corners of the world have been seeking answers to the many questions on their minds as to how to be a part of the opportunity.
An opportunity like that doesn’t come everyday and that’s a fact. This underscores why many people have so far shown interest in becoming the first winner of the Dr. MarkAnthony Nze Literary Prize.
Anyone who has come across Dr. Nze or his conscious literary postulations or books must have observed one thing – he is an advocate for good governance in Africa and Nigeria where he originally hails from. His message has been about how to rework the leadership conundrum in the country.
Before now, he has written lots of books, journals, articles, and even produced films with expository outlooks which were aimed at exposing the corruption in government circles. This was aimed at sparking the much needed mindset shift that would see the docile population who are mostly youths to demand good governance, transparency, and accountability from their leaders.
To move it a step further, Dr. Nze has now instituted a literary honour which is aimed at encouraging the interests of Nigerian youths in participating in politics through creativity and shrewd intellectual contributions.
This was how this rare opportunity was birthed. It is going to be a very unique competition that you can’t afford to miss. It is open to young Nigerian youths between the ages of 18 and 28. Any Nigerian within this age regardless of tribe, religious or political affiliation can take part.
The topic for the essay is “Restructuring: The Best Way Forward For Nigeria? Discuss”. The topic is not just timely, but very insightful. Participants would see themselves in positions of suggesting workable solutions to Nigeria’s hydra-headed problem.
It is also important that participants are made to understand that their entries must be original devoid of any form of plagiarism or intellectual foul play. An experienced team of organisers would be perusing these entries and it is important you don’t disqualify yourself even before the competition commences.
The writer of the best entry in this contest would be smiling home with three hundred thousand Naira ( ₦300,000.00). Dr Nze’s decision to take on this impactful project, is not because he has too much money to throw around, No! It is purely for humanitarian reasons and only that. His desire is to be remembered for his positive contributions to the betterment of humanity, long after he is gone.

This should be a challenge to every privileged person in the Nigerian society. This is the way to go. If everyone starts giving back to the society in this manner, the world would surely become a better a place. Take a bow Dr Nze, you have done noble and posterity would judge you very kindly. In Mr Macaroni’s voice “You are doing well!”
