The interim caretaker chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) temporarily headed by the Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Bello, has revealed that the zoning report submitted by the committee led by the Governor of Kwara State has been adopted and will be released later today.

He also revealed that the National Executive Council meeting of the party will hold next week with President Muhammadu Buhari joining remotely.

Africa Daily News, New York recalls that the ruling APC had last Monday announced the postponement of its national convention to March 26. This was however the third time the party would be postponing her national convention.

Before the last postponement, it had earlier been scheduled to hold on February 26. But internal party wrangling and factions in several states have been speculated to be the cause of the delay.

While reacting to reports that there was division in the party, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State last week said: ‘there’s no way you can have 22 Governors agreeing on every issue. You can have differences, but to call it division is taking it too far’.

Meanwhile, on Monday (March 7) Africa Daily News, New York had reported that there were reports of the possible sack of the party’s Caretaker Committee Chairman, Mai Mala Buni. This was after security operatives were said to have taken over the premises of the National secretariat of the Party.

Shortly after the mild confusion, Governor Bello went on to preside over a meeting of the Caretaker/Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee of the ruling APC on Monday.

Africa Daily News, New York can confirm that the disagreements and fracas is not unrelated to the struggle by different blocs in the Party to seize power ahead of the national convention of the Party.
