Nigeria’s Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, and the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Friday met in Abuja.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that both men, who were locked in a warm embrace, met amid speculations that they were fighting each other over the 2023 presidential contest.

They both posed for photographs before going into a closed-door meeting.

It is however pertinent to note that neither Tinubu nor Osinbajo has publicly declared interest in the race but there are indications that they are interested in succeeding Buhari.

The support groups of both men have started campaigning across the country ahead of the 2023 elections.

Before being elected Vice-President, Osinbajo worked as Attorney-General of Lagos State between 1999 and 2007 when Tinubu was governor.

In a related development,

Senator Babafemi Ojudu, the Political Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari has insisted there is no rift between Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

According to him, both Tinubu and Osinbajo are in the same political family.

Ojudu pointed out that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has not given the go-ahead for any politicking.

According to Ojudu, ‘As a law abiding citizen, Osinbajo will not commence any act in this regard until INEC blows the whistle, and in any case the VP (Osinbajo) has not indicated interest in the 2023 elections.’
