Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun and striker Victor Osimhen were on target on Sunday as the Nigerian side defeated the Central African Republic (CAR) in Douala, Cameroon to keep their Quater world cup dreams alive.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that the Nigerian team needed the win to appease fans after suffering a surprise defeat in matchday 3 of the FIFA World Cup qualifier against the same team last week in Lagos.

Balogun scored in the 29th minute to put the Super Eagles ahead before Osimhen blasted home just before the end of the first half.

With this win, Nigeria tops the table on 9 points from four matches.

The Nigerian side would be through to the elite competition if they pick up four points from their next two games which would be coming up later this year.

The World cup which would be coming up in 2022 would be held in Quater.
