Religion and religious fanaticism have remained Africa’s bane. Religious sentiment is always a deal-breaker for many Africans. Religion is so deeply rooted that even politicians blame their failures on a Western imported Deity and thank such for their perceived successes. The inability of their followers who are religious adherents often gives some of these politicians a window to repeatedly rape the humanity of the same people they superintend over without consequences.

The truth is that the West who introduced Organised Religion to Africa have long relegated it for science and technology, sadly Africa has chosen to enthrone it in perpetuity. The Christain Religion for example, over the years, has birthed the evolution of a dangerous CULTURE distinguished by the tendency to always blame third parties (usually the Devil and his purported agents) for actions or inactions that demand accepting responsibility for and not just that, it has fuelled the reliance on God and prayers for solutions to problems which we created wittingly in most cases. religion is not innocuous. It encourages mental laziness and divisions and, is a potent tool for mental enslavement. The fanaticism about religion is the sole reason why many of its adherents seem incapable of thinking beyond today, this is a well-crafted window which many greedy African politicians and people in positions of authority would remain grateful for.

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma is the latest on the long list of con men turned politicians who appear to have mastered the art; the art of hiding under the much revered religious sentiment to hide and seclude his failures from people. While he takes his stolen turn to rapaciously rape the resources and fortunes of his helpless people, he ices the cakes by coating his engagements with religious sentiment. By his ill-fated calculation, by getting ‘God’ and religion involved, he disarms the people of their ability to ask accountability questions while demanding transparency; it is as simple as quoting a scripture from the religious books where ‘God’ told them not to speak ill or challenge constituted authority. That alone can whip most of the deluded adherents into his line to sustain the anomaly.

But then again, not every African or indigene of Imo State is soaked in the sedated cloak of religious fanaticism and that is the truth, these are the class of people that have remained intolerable to Uzodinma’s gimmicks, that is why they can easily ask questions. For someone who even stole an electoral mandate like Uzodinma, his moral conscience has become too questionable for any right-thinking individual to be hoodwinked by his solitary delusions.

Perhaps Uzodinma’s romance with religion is attributable to the fact that he wants a soft landing, however, his incompetence and lack of tact have left him in limbo. He has not only found himself constantly away from his people (in Abuja) but he has simply abdicated the same leadership he stole in connivance with the Fulani Oligarchy to whom he has remained a slave.

While feeding the world with a fallacious claim that Imo is perfectly at peace and in good hands, he also conveniently laces those narratives with religious slants to ensure he stays above water level. These and many more are attributes of a fraudster who angelically appears to his or her victim, only to fleece the same person subsequently. It is no longer news that a red cap-wearing fraudster on January 14th, 2020 stole the keys to the coffers of Imo State, the heist has continued to stare Imolites in the face.

The worst malady that has ever befallen Imo State is Governor Hope Uzodinma, it was an anathema which every conscientious person should not wish even his worst enemy. His failures in Government have become too glaring that they are now practically almost a waste of time to discuss them. Security-wise, the biggest achievement of the Supreme Court Governor is inviting the military to his State to destabilise it and turn it into a stinking abattoir. The insecurity in Imo State has reached cataclysmic heights. In recent times, at the break of each dawn every day, residents of Orlu now regard as normal, the fact that they now wake up to decapitated human heads displayed in public places. A general air of fear, terror, horror, despondency, and despair hover around the land known and envied for her relative peace and serenity in the past. His handling of States resources and government has set new records for failures. To be succinct, the incompetence of Uzodinma is self-evident. The pity should go to Imolites who would continue to undeservedly suffer the consequences of his misrule.

While Uzodinma junkets around Abuja for his maximum pleasures, Imo has continued to groan under decay and misgovernance. Just like Thomas Hobbes explained in his description of the pre-political State, life in Imo State is now nasty, solitary, brutish, poor, and short! The increasing possibility that Uzodinma would one day drive the State into irredeemable and irreversible failure and anarchy has become the major concern. But then, Uzodinam needs the confusion and perplexity, it gives him the leeway to loot the resources of the State with reckless abandon.

Uzodinma can decide to drench himself in priesthood but sadly it won’t erase his failures; religious fanaticism can only fool the gullible, he should know this and retrace his steps. He can take as many photographers as possible on his next trip to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama, FCT Abuja, but he should also remind himself that those senseless photoshoots would not save him when the Fulani cabal decides to fry him. That day would eventually come and he would stand no chance.
