Real Madrid midfielder, Toni Kroos has said Lionel Messi’s move to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain’s could be of double benefit to Real Madrid.

According to the talented German, their La Liga rivals Barcelona will now have a weakened team and Kylian Mbappe could leave PSG for the Spanish capital.

Kroos believes Messi’s move could create a path for Mbappe to join Madrid- a club the 2018 World Cup winner supported as a youngster.

‘We’ll see how it all works out (Messi to PSG). Maybe the move is good for us because our biggest competitor has lost their best player,’ Kroos said while talking to his brother on their joint podcast Einfach mal luppen.

“And maybe even more good things will come out of it as a result. Maybe [a player] from Paris joins us… If that (Mbappe joining Madrid) should actually happen – I don’t know – this whole Messi deal would certainly not be a disadvantage for us.”

Africa Daily News, New York understands that Mbappe is yet to extend his PSG contract that expires 10 months from now.

And Madrid, who have shown interest in the Frenchman, have ramped up their efforts in that regard.
