In the new wake of human rights violations in Nigeria, Nigerian Security officials have resumed their spate of brutalities and unprovoked extra-judicial killings which it is widely known for. Numerous tabloids and news sources have confirmed reports of various Nigerian citizens who have been killed or mortally injured by some of these trigger-happy Nigerian security officials who take pride in shedding innocent blood because they know that in a country like Nigeria, there is always a leeway to get away with it.
Anambra State was shaken on the 9th of August when reports filtered in of two brothers and their cousin who were attacked in their private vehicle, brutalised and killed, not by Armed Robbers but by men of the Nigerian Navy who swore to protect them.
The victims who were well-known entreprenuers were on their way back from work when they were accosted by these dare-devil men of the Nigerian Navy who were clearly intoxicated by the power and fear being drawn to them. In a terrible turn of events, these relatives were shot at and unfortunately, the cousin’s life was snuffed out of him on the spot while the brothers still lie in critical condition as at the time of compiling this news report. The two brothers have been identified as Clement Nebolisa Amaku and his elder brother Chukwuma Nebolisa who sustained serious gunshot injuries.
When it dawned on the security officials that they have shot innocent and unarmed people, they quickly flagged down a vehicle that took the brothers to the hospital where they sought and got a police report, with which they deposited the dead to the hospital, while medical care was provided for the injured.
This was not to be the end of thw whole saga as more armed security forces apparently in a bid to clean up their tracks stormed Beluchukwu Hospital Enugwu-Ukwu by 11 pm on Wedsnesday where these brothers were being treated of the gunshot injuries and took the brothers and their younger brothers Kingsley Nebolisa and Innocent Nebolisa who were helping their brothers out in the hospital to an unknown location.
These are some of the unfortuate events being meted out to Nigerians by security officials in Nigeria. The victims above are all responsible young men with legitimate and verifiable sources of livelihood but the Naval officers did not take any notice of this fact.
It will be in his best interest if Governor Willie Obiano and the Chief Security administrator in Anambra State takes up this case and get to its root because there are a lot of innocent lives at stake here.
