Cristiano Ronaldo’s remarkable campaign at the UEFA Euro 2020 has come to an end on Monday after a Thorgan Hazard-inspired Belgium upstaged Ronaldo’s Portugal in the Round of 16 phase of the UEFA Euro 2020.

Thorgan Hazard’s first-half goal gave Belgium a tense win over the holders to set up a quarter-final tie against Italy at Euro 2020.

Cristiano Ronaldo will have to wait for his record-breaking international goal as defending champions Portugal were dumped out of the UEFA Euro 2020 by Eden Hazard-led Belgium in the Round of 16 phase of the ongoing European championship on Monday. Borussia Dortmund’s rising star Thorgan Hazard came up with a stunning long-range effort which proved to be the knockout blow for Ronaldo-led Portugal in their UEFA Euro 2020 last 16 encounter, contested at the Estadio de La Cartuja.

Belgium extended their winning run to 14 matches at the UEFA Euro (qualifying and the finals) by registering an impressive 1-0 win over Ronaldo-led Portugal. With the pulsating 1-0 win, Hazard-led Belgium have confirmed that the 2020 edition of the European championship will crown a new champion at the Wembley Stadium.
