Paris Saint-Germain manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has told the club’s hierarchy that he wants to leave the French Ligue 1 giants this summer, Africa Daily News, New York reports.

It is interesting to note that Pochettino only joined PSG in January, replacing Thomas Tuchel, who is currently the manager of Chelsea.

The 49-year-old failed to reclaim the Ligue 1 title as Lille pipped them to the title.

His team also crashed out of the Champions League at the hands of Manchester City in the semi-final stage.

Pochettino did manage to guide PSG to Coupe de France and Trophee des Champions victories this season.

Pochettino’s contract is not due to expire until the summer of 2022, however, the former Tottenham Hotspur manager has now informed PSG chiefs that he wants to depart a year early.

PSG were planning on continuing with Pochettino, and the report added that the Argentine would accept whatever decision the club’s sporting director Leonardo makes.

Pochettino is said to maintain a ‘special affection’ for PSG and would continue in his post until the end of his deal should that be what the Parisians desire.
