A former governor of Nasarawa State, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has given conditions under which he would contest for the chairmanship of the ruling party.

According to Al-Makura, he would only take a shot at the office if the position of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is zoned to the North Central he will contest for it.

Al-Makura, who represents Nasarawa South Senatorial District made the statement when his campaign coordinators in the 13 LGAs in the state from 2010 to date, led by the majority leader of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr. Tanko Tunga , visited him in his Lafia residence.

Al-Makura, in a statement signed by his press secretary, Mr. Danjuma Joseph, said he is awaiting the zoning of the position before declaring his intention to contest formally.

‘God willing, if they zone the office of national chairman of our party to the North Central zone, then we will all go out with our might and officially declare our ambition. If they throw it open, we will come out in full glare to contest, but if they zone it to either North East or North West, then I will not go into the race because I am a loyal member of APC,‘ he said.
