Speaking on the vaccine, he talked about how it should be refrigerated while quipping in that Nigeria has the resources to handle and maintain the vaccine because the country had also handled other vaccines including the vaccine for Poliomyelitis and Tuberculosis. He also gave detailed summations on the sharing formula of the coronavirus vaccine while buttressing the importance of targeting those who are in direct contact with the coronavirus patients first. He said that this was important because this method would definitely reduce the spread of the coronavirus in Nigeria and it will completely curb the spread of new mutated infections.

When asked about naysayers and those who were pitching against the vaccine’s administration, Dr Amadi-Obi categorically stated that there might not even be enough vaccines to get to the naysayers and that the little vaccine supply that was in circulation now should be focused on those who have a genuine interest for it. He also blamed the public health information system for not properly giving out detailed orientation as regards the Coronavirus vaccine.

While fielding questions on the production of the vaccines, he praised the AstraZeneca pharmaceutical company and Moderna for utilising modern health technologies for the production of the Coronavirus vaccine. He also appreciated the huge lengths that medical science has extended itself to cater for the needs of many in such a short period of time.

Dr Ahjoku Amadi-Obi endorsed the circulation of the vaccine while urging Nigerians to take the process as seriously as they can.

Dr Ahjoku Amadi-Obi is a member of the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland, Ireland. He also holds several distinguished positions in several medical organisations, some of which include Health Empowerment Africa Inc, which incidentally happens to be his brainchild.
