President Muhammadu Buhari has re-emphasised his administration’s determination to lift 100m Nigerians out of poverty over the next ten years.

Buhari said his administration would continue to churn out policies and programmes aimed at achieving the target.

He stated this during his closing remarks at the ministerial retreat for Ministers and presidential aides held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, yesterday.

Buhari, however, stated that Nigeria has what it takes to “weather through the storm” of its current challenges.

The President also assured Nigerians that his administration would close the gap between the different classes of people in the society.

He said: “Let me reassure all Nigerians that this administration remains resolute in initiating programmes aimed at improving the quality of lives and uplifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty over the next ten years.

“Within these few days we have examined the numerous policies, programmes and projects the Administration has embarked upon which are targeted at lifting our people from the shackles of poverty, protect their lives and properties and ensure equitable distribution of the nation’s wealth.

“We aim to gradually close the gap between the different classes to bring joy to a greater number of the citizens.”
