He enjoined governments at all levels to urgently take proactive steps to ensure normalcy in the country, stressing, “ln this modern society, lawlessness still prevails. The incessant killings in the country is giving us a bad image outside the shores of the country.”

He noted, “Infact, we don’t want government to be sympathetic to the killings in Southern Kaduna, but all that we are saying, we want the killings to stop in Southern Kaduna and other parts of the country so that people will be free to undertake their legitimate obligations.”

Ayokunle reminded the Southern Kaduna people and Christians to remember what Jesus Christ told His followers on the type of persecutions they are going to face because of the name of Jesus.

He told the congregation that the gradual decimation of the people of Southern Kaduna started long time ago but, pointed out that nobody gave attention to it, until it became a recurring decimal.

He stated, “Gov. El-rufai is not our enemy, if he is our enemy, we can’t be running to him for solution. God is against killings, we are also against it. However, if the people we entrust with power and money to defend us failed, we will have no option than to resort to self-help.”

He commended the leadership of CAN in the state for making their position known on issues that affect the corporate existence of the state, saying, “We should be known to speak the truth no matter the challenge we may face. Jesus while on earth was known with the truth and so telling the truth should be our weapon at all times because the truth cannot be changed.”

Ayokunle thanked the federal government for responding to the cry of the people for deploying a Special Forces besides the troops already on ground to restore normalcy to the zone.

Rev. Fr. Fred Simon Byat, the state CAN treasurer, who delivered a word of exhortation at the prayer protest on, “Sorrow, tears and blood: come to our aid oh Lord” expressed displeasure at the rate of senseless killings that the people of Southern Kaduna have witnessed, adding, “The burden of killings is too much for the people.”

He noted that the killings was not a mystery as it was that which is carried out and systematically executed not by ghost but by humans.

“The Fulani militia is on genocidal mission as they are there killing mercilessly.” He stated.

He asked, “Now where is the government at this time when people are being killed? If you do not act, it suggests complicity, but if you are trying and your effort is not yielding result, then simply resign.

“The Governor deserves our commendation about this COVID-19 pandemic, but one question is, in all these killings, has the governor visited Southern Kaduna or is it a way of saying it is okay to be killed by Fulani militia and not by COVID-19?”
