There is finally a little ray of hope in Imo state as Governor Hope Uzodinma, who has finally woken up to his duties begins the payment of salaries and pension arrears to Imo state civil servants and cabinet workers.

Credible reports reaching Africa Daily News, New York show that the Governor recently ordered his Accountant General to begin the disbursement of due salaries and arrears being owed by the Imo state government.

This development came after a barrage of strongly-worded, fact-filled compositions and articles made by veteran New York-based social critic, Dr. MarkAnthony Nze which were directed at Governor Hope Uzodinma’s inability to step up to his responsibility and pay his workers.

Dr. Nze who is the publisher at Africa Today News, New York, and Africa Daily News, New York spearheaded the media onslaught against Governor Hope Uzodinma and his government. This was as a result of the incessant protests by aged retirees of the Imo state civil service who made the gates of the Imo state government house their second home.

Protests in Imo state reached an all-time high last month and nearly became a daily occurrence as different groups and sectors of the Imo state administrative commission all took turns at holding peaceful protests for the arrears which have been long overdue.

Dr. Nze who is widely known for his no-nonsense attitude towards injustice and lackadaisical system of Government took to the media, one damning exposé at a time, relentless in his quest to set things straight and bring the Governor back to his right senses.

The new development is surely a step in the right direction and a positive pointer of better things to come in Imo state.
