The head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State, Pope Francis has urged people not to let down their guard and assume that they are safe from the novel coronavirus now that infection levels are dropping in many Western countries.

He gave the admonition during his sermon at the Vatican City on Sunday.

“You can’t declare your victory too early,” he said during his weekly prayers at St Peter’s Square. “Keep on being careful!”

That means continuing to follow the rules set by local health authorities.

This is coming after the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye praised the Federal Government over the handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

Reacting to the lockdown ease on religious gathering, the clergy thanked the government for its decision.

President Muhammadu Buhari on June 1, lifted the ban on religious gatherings across the country through the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.

The ban was placed on religious gatherings to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Speaking on Sunday during a live broadcast on Dove TV, on the topic: Flying over mountains, Adeboye urged Christians to worship God appropriately for God to turn the lockdown in their favour.
