As part of measures to curb the spread of coronavirus, Canada and the United States on Tuesday extended the ban on non-essential travel between the two nations by another 30 days.

The Prime Minister of Canada, Mr. Justin Trudeau, disclosed this on Tuesday, NAN reports.

The ban, however, does not cover trade across borders that stretch 5,525 miles (8,891 km).

Trudeau during a daily briefing said the ban which kicked off in mid-March is to keep citizens safe.

“Canada’s 10 provinces had made it clear they wanted the measures to be rolled over and Washington had been open to extending the ban.

“This is an important decision that will keep people in both of our countries safe,” Trudeau added.
