The Imo State Government has given until Monday 18, 2020 for workers in the state to submit their Bank Verification Number as a requirement for salary payment.

The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba stated this while briefing newsmen on Thursday in the government house Owerri.

He warned that any Head of ministries, agencies or parastatals who fails to comply with the government directives on or before Monday 18, 2020 will have themselves to blame.

This, according to him, was part of the decisions taken at the end of the State Executive Council meeting.

Emelumba noted that the stance against government guidelines as regards the E-payment policy is more than meets the eye, insisting that no responsible government would choose to remain docile in issues having to do with accountability and transparency.

The Commissioner blamed some agencies and parastatals in the state who are yet to receive their salaries for their non-compliance to the directives of the government.

He frowned at the poor compliance by the state civil servants to the Governor’s directives, insisting that the policy has come to stay.
