Edo State has donated relief items to the Nigerian Correctional Service for inmates.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), DSC Aminu Suleman, made this known in Benin on Tuesday.

He described the donation as an unprecedented.

It was the first time all seven custodial centres in the state would benefit from the welfare relief package of government, he said.

Suleman said the wife of the Edo Governor, Betsy Obaseki gave out the relief items.

Inmates also benefited from the relief items presented to the vulnerable and less privileged members of the society.

The relief items were distributed as a result of the `stay-at-home’ order by the government to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Items received include, bags of millets, rice, beans garri and salt.

Others were cartons of noodles, soap and seasonings.

They have all been distributed to the custodial centres, Suleman said.
