Tanzania has confirmed its first coronavirus death.

The health minister Ummy Mwalimu disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday.

The statement read in part: “The victim was a 49-year-old Tanzanian male, who had pre-existing conditions before he tested positive to Coronavirus

“He had been admitted to Mloganzila Hospital in Dar Es Salaam for treatment. “

As of Monday, Tanzania had 19 confirmed cases of coronavirus.

South Africa too has been confirmed to have cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) than any other country in Africa, World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Office for Africa in Brazzaville, Congo, reports.

South Africa is the most affected by the coronavirus virus in Africa, with 1,280 cases, one death, and 31 recoveries as of March 30.
