Kidnapped Anglican Bishop’s Wife Regains Freedom

The Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, has confirmed the release of the wife to the Anglican Bishop of Bari Diocese in Kano State, Mrs Saratu Zubairu by kidnappers.

Mrs Zubairu and a Diocesan secretary simply identified as Deborah, were kidnapped on March 10, 2020.

Archbishop Okoh confirmed her release during the consecration service of five new bishops and presentation of two archbishops, at the Cathedral Church of Holy Trinity, Lokoja, Kogi State, NAN reports.

They were said to have been kidnapped after abductors laid siege at Gidan Mato in Bari, where the Anglican Cathedral and Bishop’s Court are situated.

However, Okoh told the congregation that Zubairu and the secretary had regained their freedom.
