The groups, which took them on a five-day training, noted that from research and observation, many adolescent girls in Nigeria face human rights abuses on a daily basis. Others include gender-based violence, forced marriage, female genital mutilation, and limitations on their mobility, education, employment, and participation in public life, which delay their progression and development and impede their human rights and dignity.
In a statement, they acknowledged the role and importance of adolescent girls in achieving inclusive and sustainable development, as crucial to ensuring progress, especially on issues affecting them.
The issues, which affect them, they noted, include their education, health, human rights and dignity.
After the training, these girls are expected in the New Year to engage decision-makers and policy-makers at multiple levels on girlsβ issues in Lagos.
