Always Sanitary Product will remove the Venus symbol, a symbolism for feminity, from their products so they can include transgender and nonbinary customers.

This decision will materialise from next year 2020. However, the specific date has not been ascertained.

As reported by CNN,

transgender activists and allies had publicly urged Procter & Gamble to redesign its pad wrapper without the gender symbol, a circle atop a cross. Among their arguments were that not all people who menstruate are women and that not all women menstruate.

There have been different moves to ensure transgender equality as the debates take shape in the western parts of the world. The move by Procter and Gamble is a way to key into the debate of transgender equality.

As stated by Procter and Gamble in  a report by CBS News,

“For over 35 years Always has championed girls and women, and we will continue to do so,” Procter & Gamble said Tuesday in a statement. “We’re also committed to diversity & inclusion and are on a continual journey to understand the needs of all of our consumers.”

The official removal of the Venus symbol on the products will be a move to support the LGBTQ society and LGBTQ activists officially.

Discussing the customer’s feedback influence in their decisions, the company statement states:

“We routinely assess our products, packaging, & designs, taking into account consumer feedback, to ensure we are meeting the needs of everyone who uses our products,”
