The office of the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor has been gutted by fire. The razed office is located within the complex of St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, Awka, Anambra State.
The press secretary to the bishop, Abuchi Onwumelu, in a statement said “The fire was caused by a fault at an inverter.
According to him, “The building was saved with little damage.

“Those present, including some priests fought the inferno with fire extinguishers before the arrival of the State Fire Service led by the Director/Chief Fire Officer, Engr. Martin Agbili.
Speaking with journalists, the bishop said he was impressed with the quick response to the incident, describing it as worth emulating.
He said the inferno which affected parts of his office, emanated from the solar inverter. He expressed gratitude to God that no life or important documents were lost.
The Bishop has since been receiving goodwill visits and messages from good people of the Diocese and the state in general.
