Nigeria as it stands today is simply an army arrangement.
Because of the ban on teaching of history in schools, the current generation barely know next to nothing as what has transpired in the history of our country.
Most of them are comfortable with phones and data abusing people who do not share their views in the name of working for one politician or another.

The history of Nigeria cannot be fully appreciated without taking into account the military incursion in politics. It all started with the January 15, 1966 coup d’etat led by Major Nzeogwu and other revolutionaries, which eventually ushered in the first military Government headed by Major-Gen. Ironsi.

This was however viewed as Igbo coup and was immediately followed by a counter by a group of Officers and men of Northern origin and their accomplices in a bid to take back power to the North. The counter coup boys who eventually fought the civil war see Nigeria as their conquered estate and arrogated to themselves the sole right to appoint whoever they like to head the affairs of the country.

They see Nigeria as belonging to them as it is their own spoil of the war, hence the reason why they will always canvass for votes and install any one of them who declares intent to seek for the number one position of the country.

It’s more like an unwritten agreement that it’s only the military boys, and whoever they chose will rule.
This is one of the reasons why I laugh at the people who berated Jonathan because it’s obvious that majority of them don’t even know the truth and are very oblivious of what is obtainable in Nigeria.

The current Nigeria is an establishment of the July 1966 counter coup boys.
If you pay close attention to political happenings in the country, you will see that right after the counter coup, most of the leaders we have had in Nigeria are either those counter coup boys, their civilian accomplices, their cronies, family and friends, except Jonathan who Mother Nature just threw up, and they removed him at all cost.
That’s the reason why it seems we are recycling leaders .

From Gowon to Murtala Mohammed who took over from him, to Obasanjo who succeeded him, then handed over to Shagari who was still their crony and was accepted by the military boys were all integral part of July 1966 counter coup.
From Buhari who ousted the second republic government through a coup d’etat to Babangida who ousted him in another coup to Abiola (a bosom friend of the military boys) whose election was annulled by Banbangida, then to Abacha, whose death threw up Abdulsalam and who later handed over to Obasanjo. All are are birds of same feather.

Obasanjo’s term brought the second missionary journey of the military guys, which saw many of them started contesting elections again to come back as civilian heads of state.
When Obasanjo was done, he handed over to Umaru Musa Yaradua in compensation of his elder brother and his second in command who eventually died.

When Nature dealt a blow to that army arrangement, and threw up Jonathan, it became a war.
Thinking that they may eventually lose grip of power, and become irrelevant in the equation of things, they removed him and instead installed Buhari who is one of them.
If Jonathan had a strong military connection, or family that was of the counter coup family, he might have still been there.

For these men, power is better in their hand, than in the hand of a bloody civilian.
Most of these men are behind the scene and still call the shot today.
They have generations of rank and files that are strategically placed in security agencies who are still very loyal to them till date.
They have continued to hold the country down, and nothing will ever move till they are no more.

I still urge the younger generation to read books and know exactly what’s happening in the country, or wallow in ignorance forever.
If they don’t, they will perpetually wait for that tomorrow that never comes for them to rule, while these men, their families and friends will continue to rule till eternity.
