Sometime In April 2016, Fulani herdsmen massacred about 48 people in just one night in Ukpabi Nimbo in Uzo-Uwani Local Government area of Enugu state.
Over 60 houses and shops were set ablaze, and over 56 people sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Governor Ugwuanyi couldn’t hold back tears as he was overwhelmed by gory sights upon his visit to the community.
He declared 2 days of Mourning, fasting and prayers.
It was further revealed that there was security report on the impending attack, yet nothing was done to prevent it.

Recently, there’s a resurgent Fulani herdsmen attack in Enugu state.
A lot of travelers going through Enugu have been shot at, and their vehicles riddled with bullet holes.
Some were fortunate to live and tell their stories, while others were not.
Many have been kidnapped too.

There was an alleged case of Fulani herdsmen that robbed a Church in Nsukka.
One of them got wounded in his attempt to escape from the vigilante services, and was rushed to the hospital.
It was alleged that the security agents that came to the hospital bluntly mandated the people of the area to foot the hospital bills, and take care of the feeding of the criminal; and warned that if the herdsman dies, their village will be sacked.

Couple of weeks ago, Rev Fr Paul Offu a Priest Of the Catholic diocese of Enugu, and the Parish Priest Of St John the Great Ugbawka was murdered in cold blood by Fulani herdsmen.

Catholic priests took to the streets in protest of the murder of one of them.
The culprits had been arrested and paraded, and they confessed to the crime, but I know nothing would be done to them, as powers that be shields them.

Today again the 22nd Of August 2019, a pregnant woman was killed by Fulani herdsmen in the Nchatancha area of Enugu.
Youths and women have taken to the street to protest the gruesome murder of an innocent woman and her unborn child.

One is not mistaken to ask if Enugu state is still in the hand of God?
Enugu is also the state of Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka the fiery “man of God” and personal friend of Buhari.
Nothing has been heard from him since his brother priest was killed, and nothing has been heard from him as regards the condemnation of the killings going on in the state.

I know Governor Ugwuanyi is clearing bushes where the herdsmen hide to carry out their heinous crimes.
I also know that he has recruited forest rangers, but more needs to be done and urgently too.
This current spate of Fulani herdsmen killings in Enugu is no longer funny, and if not curbed, will spread to the whole South East.
