The son of the Afrobeat legend, Seun Kuti, has cleared the air about why he didn’t perform at Sunday night’s Grammy Awards event.

Seun, who was supposed to perform at the ceremony, said he couldn’t mount the stage as a result of flight tickets issues.

The afrobeat singer also lost out in his first attempt to win a Grammy award after being nominated in the best world music album category but lost to South Africa’s ‘Soweto Gospel Choir’.

According to the message on his Instagram page: “First and foremost I have to say I am sorry to all the fans that tuned in to see us perform yesterday but didn’t.

“I had the weirdest ticket mix up in history meaning I missed my flight and the rehearsals and we couldn’t go on.

“Big up to Soweto Gospel choir a group that has also inspired me. @fatoumata_diawara__ for holding down our show without me.

“Our entire team must keep banging the door till they let us in.”
