Angola decriminalises homosexuality

The Angolan Parliament voted to abolish the abolish the legislation criminalizing homosexuality which dated back to 1886, when the country was still under the colonial rule of the Portuguese.

With the recent act of parliament, every discrimination based on sexual orientation in the country has been banned; and People who refuse to hire others because of their sexual orientation can now face up to two years in prison.

The LGBT community in the country hailed the decision of the parliament and urged other African countries to follow suit.
